  10.        This release note describes patch SG0000051 to IRIX 5.2.

  12.        1.1  _S_u_p_p_o_r_t_e_d__H_a_r_d_w_a_r_e__P_l_a_t_f_o_r_m_s

  14.        This patch contains bug fixes for Onyx/Reality Engine or
  15.        Onyx/VTX. The software cannot be installed on other
  16.        configurations.

  20.        This patch contains fixes for the following bugs in IRIX
  21.        5.2.  Bug numbers from Silicon Graphics bug tracking system
  22.        are included for reference.

  24.           +o 225506 -- Flame (and a number of other applications)
  25.             ran into a problem where they could get Bad CP
  26.             commands, swapbuffer timeouts and other graphics
  27.             related problems if they were double-buffered (at a
  28.             minimum) and used sproc.  This patch appears to fix
  29.             most of these problems (though it is possible some
  30.             still exist).

  41.        Because you want to install patches for only the problems
  42.        you have encountered, patch software is not installed by
  43.        default. After reading the descriptions of the bugs fixed in
  44.        this patch, determine the patches that meet your specific
  45.        needs.

  47.        Patch software is installed like any other Silicon Graphics
  48.        software product.  You must make sure that you're already
  49.        running the latest version of inst that understands patches
  50.        (there is an earlier patch for this).  Once you install this
  51.        patch you must autoconfig your kernel and reboot for the
  52.        changes to take effect.
  53.  
  54.        Follow these steps to select a patch for installation:

  56.          1.  At the Inst>prompt, type

  76.          2.  Select the desired patches for installation.

  78.          3.  Initiate the installation sequence. Type

  83.              incompatible.  If this occurs, you must deselect one
  84.              of the patches.

  90.          5.  After completing the installation process, exit the

  96.        After exiting _i_n_s_t, don't forget to do an autoconfig and
  97.        reboot the machine once patch 51 is installed.

  99.        To remove a patch, use the _v_e_r_s_i_o_n_s _r_e_m_o_v_e command as you
  100.        would for any other software subsystem.  The removal process
  101.        reinstates the original version of software unless you have
  102.        specifically removed the patch history from your system.
